 Reflections
On the occasion my 70th birthday

Who is that
OLD BALD
SOB?

Whoa is that - it's...
It's Grandpa!

So Oadys Messenger Griffith that
electrician
farmer
Fisher of the Gasconade
has come back to life?

( one summer on the farm
I built traps and Grandpa said
  YOU'RE GOING TO CATCH A SKUNK! )

wait - just a minute...

HELLS BELLS and MADEMOISELLES
That's not Grandpa!
it's...
it's...
me.

(may we all come back to life)

Arise, old goat,
from your voluptuous pillow.

Look - the moons of Jupiter,
and the great horned owl,
float overhead.

And at dawn,
wave upon wave
of blackbirds.

One Night

One Night

for CK

Our hero chases a

a white hummingbird

no bigger than a fingernail

down a dirt road into a canyon

of sunflowers

He lunges for the tiny bird

misses, falls , hits

his head on an ancient stone

which is the gravestone

of his mother

Now the bird returns

buzzes our fallen hero

cradles him in it’s wings

which are the arms

of his risen mother

But that too is a dream

I was sitting outside very early in the morning looking at the stars when the moon rose up from behind the Sandia Mountains. When I came inside I had mosquito bites on my neck and ankle.

the pale golden orb
floats up from the dark mountain -
mosquito moonrise

 New Mexico Morning

Clear night sky - a shooting star.
The desert moon illuminates
the mountain.
